Along with the new Watch 6 and Watch SE launch, Apple announced new green initiatives to be carbon neutral by 2030. One of the key measures that will impact you is that the Watch 6 and Watch SE will not come with the charging adapter inside the box. Thankfully, you will get the wireless charging cable with a standard USB port on one side. This can be plugged to the wall plug with the USB port.
Apple may be taking a hint from the Watch 6 launch while launching the 2020 iPhone 12 series phones. Reports suggest Apple will be doing the same for the upcoming iPhone 12 series as well. Apple will most likely not provide the 5W charging adapter inside of the box of iPhone 12 series phones. Interestingly, Apple may not even provide the wired EarPods as well with iPhone 12 series phones.
Apple had stopped providing the Lightning to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter for free quite some time back and now it may totally get rid of wired earphones. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple may adopt this “as a means of driving demand” for AirPods, which are right now sold separately.
“In addition to the need for new iPhone users to supply their own earphones, Kuo expects an uptick in AirPods shipments to be driven by an end to AirPods inventory depletion by the second half of the year, coupled with the likelihood that Apple will offer a special AirPods promotion in late 2020,” the report added.
Apple would be launching the new iPhones at a separate online event in October and the company is expected to announce similar environmental friendly measures as well. Apple, however, is expected to offer a charging cable.
